Initiator of the refugee hackathon is Anke Domscheit-Berg who (co-) organised diverse hackathons for charitable objectives during the last years (Random Hacks of Kindness – rhok) and also participated in the initiative #bloggerfuerfluechtlinge.

She shared the idea via twitter with her timeline, described it shortly and asked if there are some volunteers – she got very positive feedback and built the core organisational team
